Let's talk about Zones...there's being in the Zone, being Zoned Out, No Parking Zones and my favorite, the Twilight Zone.
Can you think of any more? Let me share an important Zone with you- the USDA Plant Hardiness Zone From the National Gardening Association website: Gardeners need a way to compare their garden climates with the climate where a plant is known to grow well. That's why climate zone maps were created. Zone maps are tools that show where various permanent landscape plants can adapt. If you want a shrub, perennial, or tree to survive and grow year after year, the plant must tolerate year-round conditions in your area, such as the lowest and highest temperatures and the amount and distribution of rainfall. There's also it's little sister, the AHS Heat Zone Map...but that's for another Friday! |
BIO:Anna and her husband Todd own Arcadia Gardens, LLC a Stevensville, MI based landscape design and build company. Her degree in Horticulture with a focus on landscape management from Michigan State University allows Anna to select plants specific to on-site conditions and with maintenance requirements that suit the client's needs.
