Over the years you've owned your home, your landscaping (or lack thereof) has evolved to be taste specific. Your taste, to be specific, and if you're planning on selling your home, that's a problem- because as we all know, your home needs to appeal to the masses in order to get that quick sale.

My top recommendations to give your landscape a spit shine before that important realtor tour:

1. Clean out the beds. Remove anything that looks the slightest bit weedy, give every plant it's space. Lightly trim the shrubs- you don't want to give anyone the idea your garden needs constant attention.
2. Trim up the trees. A lifted canopy is like an instant facelift. You won't believe how it lightens up the place!
3. Prune back anything touching the house. People worry about mold, moss, insects and vermin when they see plants crowding the siding.
4. Mow the lawn and clear it of random toys, junk and debris.
5. Sweep or blow off the sidewalks, front stoop, patio and driveway.
